Join a Book Club

The library currently offers a book club for adult readers. Find a description and meeting times and dates.

  • The book disussions are for Adults.
  • The Adult Book Discussion Group meets every third Monday of the month at 6:30 PM.  There was sufficient interest to start an afternoon Book Discussion Group, which meets on the Tuesday afternoon following the Monday evening event at 1:30pm.
  • The Book Discussion Groups meet at the Library, in the conference room.
  • For information you can call the Library (534-4400) , Mary Mitchell at 534-4280 or Kathy Vander Ecken at 534-3343.
  • The Books are chosen by the Book Discussion Group out of a list of books from the State of Iowa Library.  They are borrowed through the Inter-Library Loan program.
  • A copy of the book can be acquired by calling the Lacona Public Library.  If we have it on hand,  you can check it out right away.  If not, we can try to get it for you through Inter-Library Loan.
  • We try to have the the new book for the next month at each discussion meeting.  We ask that you turn in the book that is currently being read at that specific book discussion meeting, and pick up the new book for the next month at the same meeting.
  • To register, just stop in or call the library and your name will be put on the list for the next meeting.
