For Teens

Lacona Library is looking for ideas for programs and services for local teens.

The Library has focused in the last 6 months on adding new non-fiction and reference items of interest to our teen community.  There are links to websites that can help you do research on a variety of topics.

We have 4 computers with wi-fi and a printer available for use in homework assignments or personal business.  Some teens come in just to play computer games and have some down time.

We are willing to do a teen book discussion group at the library if there is interest from the community.  Contact Kate at the library if you are interested in leading/participating.

There is a good collection of movies at the library that are available for checkout.  Also, the library would be happy to show a monthly movie for a teen audience if there is interest.  Contact Kate and share your ideas about this.

Games Day at the library, during Winter and Spring break, offers patrons of all ages a chance to get together and play board games in a relaxed social atmosphere.  There are several local teens who like to play chess, dominoes, scrabble, and other games.  Come to the Games Day events and do something different!

Teen volunteers are always welcome at the library.  Some volunteer duties might be helping the little kids with crafts/treats at StoryTime, supervising at Movie Day, assisting in the library with reshelving or reorganizing the book/movie collections, or ?   What would you like to do as a volunteer at Lacona Library?  However much or little time you might have to give, we can use your help and your ideas!
